Bòrd chief stands down
06 August 2008

Bòrd na Gàidhlig Chief Executive, Kenneth Murray, has vacated the post he held for just under a year; a decision taken jointly by Mr Murray and the Bòrd.

Kenneth Murray (46) joined Bòrd na Gàidhlig from the Forestry Commission in September 2007. He moved to Inverness in 2005 as the Forestry Commission’s Parliamentary and Cultural Programmes Manager and its Gaelic Language Policy Officer.

He said: “I was honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead Bòrd na Gàidhlig at an important stage in its development. I would like, most sincerely, to thank the team at Bòrd na Gàidhlig for their support. They have worked hard for the language and I wish them and the Board members the best of fortune for the future.”

Bòrd Interim Chair, Arthur Cormack said:

“We recognise Kenneth Murray’s work for Bòrd na Gàidhlig and wish him well in the future. Arrangements will be put in place to ensure stability within the Bòrd until a new Chief Executive is appointed. We will continue to progress implementation of the National Plan for Gaelic, building relationships with our partner organisations and engaging with Gaelic communities in a positive way.”
