Culture, Heritage & the ArtsCulture, Heritage and Gaelic arts are productive areas, and as well as attracting people to Gaelic, they raise the profile of Gaelic nationally and internationally. It is very important that Gaelic speakers have a cultural life of substance.Bòrd na Gàidhlig gives regular support to culture, heritage and the arts in partnership with organisations such as the Scottish Arts Council, and we give Gaelic speakers the chance to be creative and visionary, and to preserve their heritage. Whether it is drama, music, visual art, a museum, literature or an exhibition centre, Bòrd na Gàidhlig is only too willing to become involved with deserving projects. The Bòrd works with other organisations such as GASD and Highland 2007. We also make submissions when the Executive or other organisations are consulting. It is from the community that culture, heritage and art comes and a community is: culture, heritage and art. And the language is at the heart of the Gaelic community. Below are examples of some of the inspiring work which is being done in these areas at the moment: Seachd - A new feature-length Gaelic film by Young Films Blas - Traditional music festival celebrating the Gaelic language and culture throughout the Highlands Taigh Dhonnchaidh - Arts & Music centre in Ness in the Isle of Lewis Ùr-sgeul - Promoting new Gaelic writing for the 21st century
