AdviceOne of Bòrd na Gàidhlig’s key responsibilities is to give advice and guidance. The Bòrd advises organisations, and particularly public bodies, about Gaelic and Gaelic education. The Bòrd gives advice and guidance to public bodies on Gaelic language plans, and it advises on the best way to implement these plans. The Bòrd also advises other organisations, to which the provisions of the Act are not directly applicable, on their Gaelic language plans. Design and marketing are very important in today’s world and Bòrd na Gàidhlig gives advice and promotes good practice in both areas.Under the Gaelic Act, Bòrd na Gàidhlig is asking more and more public bodies to incorporate Gaelic and its culture into their organisation’s work and services. This means that there is a need for translators, tutors and people who are capable of simultaneous interpretation between Gaelic and English. The Bòrd encourages good working practices in these professions, and we recommend people who are skilled in them. |
